Oak Root Rot (Armillaria mellea) - Causes decay of roots in oaks and many other species of trees. Mushrooms appear two to three weeks each year and are a sign of a potentially hazardous tree. Artist Conk (Ganoderma applanatum) - Perennial mushroom is a sign of decay in the roots of the tree. The larger the conk present the more advanced the decay in the trees root system.
